Our aim as a Maths Hub is to develop and spread excellent practice in the teaching of mathematics, for the benefit of all pupils and students. Our hub covers all state funded schools, colleges and nurseries in Wiltshire, Swindon, West Berkshire, Reading, Bracknell Forest and Wokingham.
Key Speakers will include:
Gareth Metcalfe – Director of I See Maths
Gareth has been teaching since 2004 and is a former Assistant Headteacher. He is currently working in a range of schools, teaching classes from Nursery to Year 6, helping schools to put reasoning and problem-solving at the heart of learning. I See Maths provides the ideas, resources and training to deepen learning in primary mathematics by making learning practical, visual and exciting.
Clare Christie – Co-founder of Number Sense Maths
Clare Christie is an experienced primary maths leader. Although she has a KS2 background she is particularly interested in early maths. Clare’s SLE work has a particular focus on developing deep pedagogical subject knowledge in teaching staff. Clare works closely with the NCETM and Maths Hubs and in this role she has worked with visiting Shanghai teachers to understand how a mastery approach to the teaching of maths could improve outcomes in this country.
